Privileged to Lead |
"The final test of a leader is that he leaves behind him in other men the conviction and the will to carry on." – Walter Lippmann.
Leaders build leaders, not followers. See any man or woman overly protective of his or her flock, such is not a leader. He or she is not confident about what he or she has to offer. When you are confident about your offering. You know those that are yours will always be. For the only one who causeth increase brought them.
Terrorists and tyrants have no such confidence. They feel it is all in their own power and ability. So, they go the extra mile of iron cladding their followers, in essence, imprisoning them and building a kingdom (cult) unto themselves. Fools they are, laboring in vain as though they were immortals.
Soon, the Holy one calls for their life, and what have they to offer? Men and women's lives, they have kept in captivity? Destinies they have shortcircuited due to their shortsightedness. Growths, they have stunted just because they were building a kingdom unto themselves. How truly pitiful such are. Sons and daughters of Jeroboam, the accursed of the Lord.
Not so is David. Not so is the leader. The leader does not struggle with providence. He or she understands the laws and principles of life and aligns accordingly. He spends no sleepless nights on the results of his or her labor. Rather the focus is on where it belongs - the sacrifice, the labor of love, the sowing, the watering, and the cultivation. The increase he or she recognizes is God, and He never fails.
