"Lord, cause me to follow with the innocence of a child. I am yours."— St. Akin |
Happy New Month, family.
It is very easy to be oblivious of our mortality when things are going our way and we are on top of the world. The ancients recognized this. So they had a slave at the back of each conquering general to remind him of this. In rhythmic cyclic fashion, the servant voiced, “Memento Mori” (remember you are mortal). Unfortunately, such privilege is not accorded to us all. It behooves each of us then to do it for our own self.
“I reached the pinnacle of success in the business world. In others’ eyes, my life is an epitome of success. However, aside from work, I have little joy. In the end, wealth is only a fact of life that I am accustomed to... Now I know, when we have accumulated sufficient wealth to last our lifetime, we should pursue other matters that are unrelated to wealth... Should be something that is more important:
Thank God for the miracle of a new month, and numbering us amongst the living. I don't take that for granted at all. Only a few days ago we all woke to the rude shock of the death of Chadwick Boseman, at the tender age of 43. It will appear death was only reserved for the aged, but it also stokes its devious hands on the young and the rich just as well. It would appear youthfulness and money can't buy us life.
Life and Death:
Life and Death are the "yin and yang" of nature. One cannot do without the other. One leads to the other. Until we die, we cannot truly live. For us to truly live we have to die. We have to die to the things warring to hold us captive. We have to die to the things limiting us. We have to die to the things distracting us. We have to die to the things, not in line with our set goals, dreams, and vision.

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." (Winston Churchill) We need to learn how to die, so we can truly live. "We have no claim on a long life; that we are each of us liable to be called off at any moment, and that the main point is not how long we live, but with what meaning we fill the short allotted span — for short it is at best." (Felix Adler)
Steve Jobs Regrets on his Dead bed:
Steve Jobs learned this a little too late. Below is a summary from his death bed. The full text can be found here.“I reached the pinnacle of success in the business world.
Perhaps relationships, perhaps art, perhaps a dream from younger days ... Non-stop pursuing of wealth will only turn a person into a twisted being, just like me...You can employ someone to drive the car for you, make money for you but you cannot have someone to bear the sickness for you. Material things lost can be found. But there is one thing that can never be found when it is lost – "Life"."
On my coaching calendar/planner, September is the twin of July. These are my twin freelance coaching months. Pretty much motivate and coach from diverse angles, topics, and the like. If you enjoyed July like I did, you'll be full of September. I pray the wholesome words that will come forth will revolutionalize your life and bring you into your wealthy large place spiritually, psychologically, and physically.
We do this in an environment of mutual love and respect for one another. Sounds like a plan?
Awesome August:
I hope you enjoyed the month of August as much as I did. Wow! What a month? What a blessing? I did not achieve my set goal of finally putting the series on "communication in marriage" together. It was for all the right reasons though. I was busy with all the other things that apparently were in season. Focused on "Communication," with a focus on "branding," and "writing." We also had a good reminder of where to place our trust and how to grief aright.

Well, you all now know where the name "Devotional Thoughts" came from. Other names that might have competed with it include, "Devotional Rhythms, Devotional Journal, etc. Thank God for "Devotional Thoughts." It is only growing stronger after 17 plus years. It has since given birth to "Marriage Minute," and now "Marriage Ideals; "Single and Blessed;" "Let's Talk with Akin Akinbodunse; and "Akin Akinbodunse" pages.
The core of all I do come from who I basically am, "a communicator."
Looking Forward to September:
Remember, every one of my channels is a communication center. Meaning, it is not one-way traffic. If there is anything I write that you don't understand, please feel free to ask clarifying questions. If there is anything you have a living example of, feel free to share. Let us make it ours. I don't have a sole right to knowledge or wisdom. Let us freely be a blessing to one another. However, remember the ground rules.
We do this in an environment of mutual love and respect for one another. Sounds like a plan?
Activation:
"May this be your best month ever. Never ever forget you are a champion. You have greatness in you. You've got potentials. God saw this month from the beginning to its end and put in you all it takes to subdue it. That is why it is called the GOOD (not the ugly, nasty, or dirty) fight. We know the end. We win! Or, as some people would rather say, "We won!"
The script has been finished, signed, and delivered. Now go act it out. Go live it out knowing, no matter what you face, no matter what comes your way, the end has already been predetermined, You won! Now go forth in this your might and bring in the medals.
Here is a toast to your success and victory always.

You are the reason why we are. Thanks for being here.
