I See Love in Your Eyes |
Emotional love might be one we fall into by chance, but it is going to take making a choice every day to keep it alive. Surely not your feelings. Feelings are about the most unpredictable and unreasonable part of a person, and hence, is no guide at all.
In arranged marriages, the people don't start with emotional love. They choose to stay together. They decide to love, and then the passion develops from their choice. It also needs to be maintained by the same everyday commitment to love.
If you are going to keep your marriage alive, you'll need to commit to love at all times, in season and out of season. That is love needs always to be the answer, irrespective of the inconvenience it might cost.

Fate?
I guess some, like John Dryden, might suppose, "Love is not in our choice but in our fate." Really? I think that is because we misunderstand what fate is. I love the way Carl Gustav Jung puts it. "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it fate."
That which we term fate is our subconscious mind at work trying to unite us with things that are familiar with our history. The affinity for familiarity is irrespective of what the past is, or not. There is no "fate." If there was fate, it is for everything good to happen to us, not bad things, or repetition of nightmares from our past.

'Ain't No Prisoner:
We are not prisoners of our history, our biology, our genealogy, or our environment. We can change. We can produce a better outcome. We can decide. We can be transgenerational change AGENTS. We can choose.
We are without excuse. Nobody makes us love or not love. Yes, people can make us like or not like them, but not love.

Love is ALWAYS a choice.
"Love is heavenly. Like is earthly.
Love is from above. Like is only in this realm.
Love is eternal. Like is temporal."
― St. Akin
May God teach us to love in deed and in truth.
