The hallmark of Christianity includes the privilege of walking with God and hearing His voice on an individual level. For, the one whom we have come to deal with is a God who is near. [Deuteronomy 4:7] He is one who wants to be touched, felt, and related with on an individual level. This differentiates Christianity from all others. God wants to walk with us. Our God wants to communicate with us, even on a personal, one-on-one level. He wants to be a God who is near. [Psalm 119:151]
"Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”" (Isaiah 30:21, NIV)This was God’s original vision with and for Israel. He wanted them to be the foreshadowing of the church. Unfortunately, the people could not handle it. Their sinfulness will not allow them. Rather than have direct access to God they preferred an intermediary to bridge the gap. [Exodus 20:18-21]
"My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek." (Psalm 27:8, NIV)
There is something about hearing the voice of God that gives you strength. There is something about hearing the voice of God that gives you reassurance. It is that feeling a child gets knowing his/her father is there for him/her. It is that feeling of the cub knowing the mother is with him/her. It is a feeling you cannot fully describe in words. It is best felt than explained. Nothing compares with it.
"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me." (John 10:27, NIV)
Having ever felt this you will never want to let it go.
