Questions and Answers (Twelve): Results of Sowing?

QUESTION:
My question, what if you are planting in the right soil, with the necessary condition and your harvest is not in lieu of your seed? This is translated in personal investment in yourself and you are not getting the desired results, what then should one do? – LO, Nigeria

ANSWER:
That is a great question. First, we start from the premise, the principle of sowing and reaping is settled. It never goes wrong. If I am not reaping, the problem is not with the principle. It most probably is the way and manner of my sowing. Only yesterday, I was watching a kid’s program on sowing. They were able to sow seeds from various fruits, but when it got to banana they were confused. Where is the seed? How do you sow (grow) bananas? Bananas have no seeds. They are grown differently. They grow from their rhizome, not seeds. Just think of how futile it will be trying to grow them otherwise.

That is why Matthew 7:7 tells us of three levels of praying – Asking, Seeking and Knocking. Sometimes when our asking (sowing) is not getting the right (expected) result, we need to take two steps backwards and ask why? That is the place of seeking. This is where a lot of us miss it with/in God. Such are a one-way direction, with their heart and ears closed. They do not have their ears and hearts open before God, to hear Him speak. Being successful in life is not just about laboring. It is about laboring effectively, on the right things and in the right way and direction.

Proverbs 4:7 tells us, “Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.” Abraham Lincoln puts it this way, “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” Ecclesiastes 10:10 tells us, “Using a dull ax requires great strength, so sharpen the blade. That’s the value of wisdom; it helps you succeed.”

Hoping this helps.
