True Friendship

Friendship is built on a healthy relationship. A book I once read defines a healthy relationship as “one in which the parties come into because of what they can give, not what they can get. However, what keeps them together is not what they give, but what they get.”

It takes interdependent persons to truly have a healthy relationship. Such persons base a healthy relationship on equal partnership. Otherwise, one will be simply milking off the other, while the other tends to use the milking as a weapon. If true friendship is to be developed, both parties need to come together on an equal platform.

And, says who we are not all equal. God is yet to make a useless person. I might not have what you have, but you do not have what I have either. At the simplest level, we are all human, in need of another to complete something in us. No one is indispensable or disposable. We each have something we can contribute. True friendship is allowing the free-flowing from one another in an environment of mutual respect.
