The Platform of Grace (Part Five)

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9, NKJV)
Here in is our dilemma. Herein is the dilemma of religion – for it seeks to explain all things, even the things it does not understand. (It exists in the same realm as science, which refuses to accept anything it cannot explain). This was the dilemma of the prodigal’s elder brother. (Timothy Keller’s book: “The Prodigal God” does a good study on this) There are things in life that are not for the explanation. That is the essence of faith.

We see the same instance of grace in the “Parable of the Workers” in Matthew 20:1-16. It does not make sense that he who worked all day was paid the same as he who worked just the last hour of the day. How about that? No wonder the men grumbled. Life is not about grumbling. Life is about lining up with that which is true and whole.
