Stop Digging |
Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” (John 5:5-6, NKJV)
The sick man stuck too long (almost like forever) to a story that was not working but was expecting a miracle. He wanted his healing, but was unwilling to change his mentality. Just how much he represents a whole lot of people out there.
As James Allen would say, “Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they therefore remain bound.” He was in a pit but refused to admit the same and start finding his way out. He was in self-denial. He was expecting a miracle, howbeit, on his own terms.
Just how futile such a disposition? What's more amazing is the fact he stayed at it for thirty-eight long, unproductive, and barren years. Wow! Can you beat that?

"In making our decisions, we must use the brains that God has given us. But we must also use our hearts which He also gave us." - Alexander Maclaren.
So, what do we do if we find ourselves in the same kind of condition or situation? The only way forward is to obey the first law of
holes (pits). It states, “If you find yourself in a hole (or pit), stop
digging.” Just how difficult is that? How much simpler can it be said?
STOP DIGGING! Stop doing the same
old thing that got you where you are.
STOP DIGGING! It is time to start finding
your way out of the pit.
"We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them." - Albert Einstein.
STOP DIGGING! STOP DIGGING!! STOP DIGGING!!! STOP DIGGING YOURSELF IN.
START FINDING YOUR WAY OUT.
